Duplex Stainless steel tubes

The microstructures inside duplex stainless steels are approximately 50 percent austenite and 50 percent ferrite, and consequently, duplex products share the physical properties of both ferritic and austenitic grades. Duplex stainless steels are resistant to the cracking caused by chloride stress corrosion in austenitic grades and have improved resistance to localized corrosion. This family of stainless steels has roughly twice the yield strength of their counterpart austenitic grades which means we can use it to design thinner gauge tubing. Higher hardness values provide better wear resistance for high precision tubes.

Duplex steels are easily welded and formed, similar to austenitic grades. Depending on chromium, nickel and molybdenum content, duplex stainless steels are divided into four main categories: lean duplex, duplex, super duplex and hyper duplex. This family of alloys has great advantages in both material and engineered fabrication costs.

Typical applications for this alloy group include heat exchanger tubes, umbilicals, structural tanks, pulp and paper making equipment, pipes and fittings, and seawater handling systems.

ALLOY STEEL TUBES & ALLOY STEEL PIPES

Alloy Steel contains substantial quantities of elements other than carbon such as nickel, chromium, silicon, manganese, tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium and limited amounts of other commonly accepted elements such as manganese, sulfur, silicon, and phosphorous.

Addition of such alloying elements is usually for the purpose to increase hardness, strength or chemical resistance.

Pipes made of alloy steel have exceptional performance properties.

These are generally developed for energy-related applications involving oil and gas drilling and are subjected to stresses in machine parts.

Cold Drawn Tubes Cold Drawn Seamless (CDS) as implied is made by cold drawing a larger mother seamless pipe, which is generally manufactured through an HFS process. In the CDS process, the mother pipe is pulled through a die & plug in cold without any heating. Because of the tool on the outside and inside the surface and tolerances are better in CDS. While this is an additional process over HFS, it is necessary to get smaller size pipes which otherwise cannot be manufactured in HFS. Some applications which require close tolerances and smooth surfaces also specify the requirements to be necessarily CDS. CDS pipes & tubes are extensively used in Heat-Exchanger, Bearing & Automotive sectors.

Characteristics:

A Copper and Zinc Alloy containing a small amount of Arsenic. This is added as an inhibitor against dezincification. The alloy exhibits a good combination of strength and ductility and is commonly selected whenever excellent cold working properties, bright finish, and relatively low cost are desirable. Severe environment must be considered to predict corrosion behavior. The alloy is often used for a variety of deep drawn components.

These high-performance tubes are available at dimensions between 12.70 mm and 38.10mm OD, which covers the majority of the standard sizes used. Our minimum size here is just 0.98 mm OD with a 0.04 mm wall thickness.

Fine Tubes heat exchanger tubes can be supplied in straight lengths up to 20m. Completed packages of U-bent and C-formed tubes can be supplied ready to be installed in the tube sheet of shell and tube heat exchangers.
